For the initial scoping, we conducted extensive research to establish the university’s needs and priorities. This included workshops, meetings, and analysing the previous web system. We also undertook user testing to find out exactly how people were using the Aston website and establish where they were encountering difficulties and struggling to find information.

At the end of this phase, we produced a detailed report outlining digital build requirements and showing a clear roadmap for success. The university needed to work within extremely tight deadlines to ensure the new site was ready for clearing in August – its busiest time of year. As Aston has a large volume of content that was working well on the existing system, it only planned to migrate the homepage, course pages and news pages to the new system, therefore ensuring effective integration and communication between systems was vital.

We were delighted to be successful in tendering for the web development project. Our new Drupal 8 web design  has a sophisticated and modern aesthetic, enabling Aston to showcase its courses more effectively and better compete with other universities. There is also more flexibility in the layout and promotion of content, and everything is mobile-responsive. The site integrates perfectly with the previous system to form a seamless user journey. A comprehensive SEO strategy also ensured all updated URLs were mapped and redirected effectively so the university could maintain its vital search engine rankings.

The university had previously had difficulties during clearing, with the site crashing as a large number of students tried to search and apply for courses. This meant that valuable potential students and university revenue were lost. We therefore undertook load-testing and user testing to ensure the new site would be able to withstand the high volume of site users and meet their needs during the clearing period.

As Aston University has a clear hierarchical structure with numerous stakeholders, the whole project was planned and executed meticulously to ensure board and internal group sign-off at different stages and still meet the final deadline.

Igloo Thermo Logistics

action

Initially, we helped Igloo launch itself digitally, providing all of the online expertise needed, including website design and build, hosting, email set-up and management, and domain registration. Then, as the company rapidly expanded and evolved, we provided ongoing support and development to improve and maintain the Igloo website and maximise digital success. This was pivotal in supporting the offline work also being done to grow the Igloo brand following Dragons’ Den investment.

One major project involved improving technical SEO to increase the website’s organic traffic, which helped the company grow from its small size to a multi-million pound turnover. We also relaunched the website in Drupal, and continued making iterative site improvements to maximise online business success over the course of many years.

We began by performing a website audit/health-check to gain an overview of site performance and uncover key areas for improvement. We then implemented various solutions to improve the Drupal website, including applying security patches, updating software and fixing bugs.

We also added a visual builder feature to the Body Worlds site, meaning that staff are now able to design custom web pages and layouts themselves, without needing to engage a web design agency each time. This gives the company more flexibility and freedom to create unique project pages as needed, as well as reducing costs.

We’ve ensured Body Worlds has reliable and responsive Drupal website maintenance and support by responding to their enquiries and requests rapidly, and providing a single point of contact who regularly gives updates on progress. This has helped reduce the company’s administrative workload, meaning they have more time to focus on promoting and selling tickets for their innovative exhibition.

Joseph Rowntree Reform Trust

Our WordPress developers designed a beautiful new website for JRRT, with visually-appealing branding placing the trust as a distinct but in-keeping part of the wider Joseph Rowntree family. It tells the organisation’s vision and story in an engaging way, with information well-organised and easy to find.

The trust’s grant application process has been made clearer in order to encourage the right people and organisations to apply.  There is information about what is and isn’t funded, key dates, guidance on writing applications and lots of other relevant resources highlighted before an application can be commenced. This means that JRRT is now only receiving high-quality grant requests from projects that are eligible for funding, thus reducing administrative time spent reading, processing and responding to unsuitable applications.

A key part of the project was ensuring an open and inclusive decision-making process amongst JRRT’s staff and trustees, in line with the organisations strong democratic values. We conducted a variety of workshops and other stakeholder alignment activities to ensure all voices were heard and that decisions were made collectively, resulting in a website that everyone is proud of.

Ten Health & Fitness

Ten Health & Fitness

action

Ten has a WordPress website which is integrated with MindBody software via an API, in order to take online bookings for fitness classes and therapies. To overcome issues Ten had previously faced when work was performed on the live site, we set up a development environment hooked up to the MindBody sandbox, thus avoiding live website issues and loss of revenue.

In addition, we created a structured development approach to standardise the process for making changes and test all functionality and online transactions before going live. This means that Ten can rest assured that their live site is always working optimally. We’ve also worked with Ten to rework their website homepage and navigation to improve user experience and make it easier for customers to book sessions.

We’ve made Ten’s website maintenance processes as seamless and pain-free as possible by responding to their enquiries and requests rapidly, liaising directly with Mindbody as a supplier, and providing a single point of contact who regularly gives updates on progress. This has helped reduce Ten’s administrative workload, meaning they have more time to focus on running their business.
